An All-Black Graduation at Harvard Is Now Apparently Okay
by Alexander Zubatov
This is another one of those stories that needs little comment, where the fact of what is going to happen on May 23rd — an all-black and blacks-only graduation — pretty much speaks for itself:
It appears we have regressed to the pre-1954 days of “separate but equal.” It is also only a short logical step from this to an all-white and whites only graduation. Of course, for obvious cosmetic and political reasons, that whites-only graduation isn’t going to happen anytime soon. But the fact that it’s not going to happen shouldn’t give anyone too much comfort…because the toxic meme of a no-[insert race here]-allowed graduation has now been seeded in the minds of every white person who has heard this news. Some may then proceed to think, “Well, but that’s not okay because….” And, equally plausibly, many others may proceed to think, “Well, if blacks can do it, why can’t we?” And, what is more, the slippery slope from a blacks-only graduation to a blacks-only [fill in your event of choice] to a [fill in your race of choice]-only [fill in your event of choice] is right there just waiting for someone to take the next step in the wrong direction.
If you’re wondering where the newfound resurgence in white identity politics is coming from, stop pointing your finger at Trump. Don’t even look in his general direction. He’s no more than a reflection of what millions upon millions of people are feeling. The root cause of that feeling is right here, in morally repugnant events like this.
This is insane. It goes against everything we as a society have been working for since the dawn of the Civil Rights Era. I have just recently published an article in Quillette making what I think is a cogent evolutionary argument for the importance of cultural integration and, more than that, cultural assimilation if we want to be living in a healthy, functioning nation … as opposed to living in a nation that is quickly fragmenting into a bunch of warring tribes duking it out along racial and other identitarian lines:
But we are going in the exact opposite direction. With every day that passes, the headlines coming at us keep getting more and more absurd. And the people with their sanity still intact, the ones who know stuff like this is wrong, are sitting by on the sidelines, letting it happen. If this is you, come out of your closet, and start speaking out. Don’t be afraid. You’re still in the majority:
But you won’t be if you stay silent much longer. Don’t let the goons and bullies of the identitarian regressive left silence you. Have your say. Speak your mind. Write it for all to see. If you have access to politicians, representatives, university administrators and those in power in our institutions, make sure they know where you stand. Do it before they have still more power and numbers on their side, before what might now seem like another installment in an absurd, dystopian fantasy becomes the first chapter in a new, regressive, repressive, totalitarian reality.
