But according to what you wrote, you live in Norway. How can you have any strong views about the extent of anti-black racism in the U.S.? You really have to live in this society to understand what it’s like. Just reading most American media you would get a completely distorted picture of the issue because media outlets know that racism stories generate controversy and are great for the bottom line. They regularly inflame racial tensions for that reason. The reality is very different, and that’s a reality attested to not only by experience but also by solid empirical evidence of the sort I’d linked to for you. My whole point throughout is that your view that American society is racist against blacks is simplistic and reductive. I don’t deny that such racism exists. My point is only that it’s a far more complex issue in 2018 than it was in, say, 1850 or 1950. So, again, far from being “one-sided,” I was trying to introduce more nuance to your thinking about the issue. But, anyway, if you don’t want to continue the discussion, no need.
