How exactly is kneeling during someone’s national anthem not disrespectful, especially when the clear message is that “we refuse to salute this country and insist on protesting it instead”? It’s the same as someone who decides, during a moment when everyone else is praying in the pews at a religious service, to stand up and turn their back. It’s just not the right moment to make a spectacle of yourself. Only people who are extremely self-centered are going to do stuff like that. The reason I’m glad a low-class doofus like Colin Kaepernick can’t get a job is because he’s just not a team player. He creates a big distraction by making everything about himself and his pet cause. His employer isn’t paying him millions to make on-the-job political statement, which he could always make in his spare time if he was really passionate about the cause rather than about creating an annoying publicity stunt.
