I agree with much of what you wrote. The one thing I’ll say is this: I don’t care whether or not the media is in the “middle ground” politically. All I care about is that reporters strive for truth and objectivity (unattainable goals, to be sure, but ones worth pursuing), like they used to, rather than trying to ram through their political agendas and their personal notions of social justice. The truth might be left of center on certain issues or right of center on others. I’m happy to let the chips fall where they may. But what we can’t have is an out-of-control anti-Trump spin machine salivating over the prospect of impeachment and doing its best to dig up dirt and skew public opinion to engineer an elite coup d’etat. That’s how they’ve lost the trust of so much of this country.
