I get why being called “white” feels like a denial of who you are, but even better than being called “black” would be not being called anything at all, as I’ve argued here. We need to get past these superficial “color” labels if we want to make any real progress on racial issues and move forward rather than backwards in achieving total integration on every level of society as opposed to careening towards an all-out race war the way we seem to be doing right now.
