I guess you weren’t reading very carefully, huh? I’ll paste in the very first sentence of my response, which even had the term “Black America” in quotes in the title for a very good reason:
If you’re part of “Black America” (don’t know what that is, but maybe I’m just too “white” to understand such things and naively still believe we all live — or at least should aspire to live — in one America …), and you read this article advising you to ditch your “slave names” because they were given to you by families that kept your ancestors enslaved, I’ve got some additional suggestions for you to consider.
So I’m actually doing the exact opposite of painting black people with a broad brush. I’m questioning and rejecting that kind of broad-brush approach to racial issues, as I’ve done time and again on Medium:
Feel free to criticize my views, but at least try to make an elementary effort to make sure your criticism is targeted at what I actually wrote and actually believe, not at some silly strawman view you want to attribute to me.
