I was describing what the struggle for acceptance and inclusion in mainstream American society was like for these various immigrant groups, but not for a moment do I buy the nonsense that if you were a WASP you had it made in America. This was not true historically, and today, of course, the situation in many of these impoverished communities in middle America is dire. I’ve described repeatedly in various posts on Medium how these people are both struggling economically and also being simultaneously demonized as oppressors and relentlessly attacked by vocal minorities and their coastal elite allies. As I’ve repeatedly said in various posts, while racism against blacks is heavily stigmatized and is now a firing offense at most institutions (and is largely in this phantom category of “implicit bias” at this point), the racism against these “deplorables” is out there in the open and being broadcasted from mainstream media channels around the clock.
