I’d actually written a longer piece in which I’d tried to demonstrate empirically that the tack of calling people out for alleged racism has been leading to and will continue to lead to more racism rather than less insofar as it will alienate the very people whom the professed anti-racists are trying to convert:

This is the problem with so much of the identity politics we’re seeing today. They take what might be an actual issue in need of some exposure and discussion and rethinking (such as our attitude and policies towards people who feel like they were born the wrong gender) and turn it into an entrenched identity grouping that enforces an ideological girdle, demonizes all dissent and goes way over the top in inculcating an us-vs.-them mentality that generates massive blowback.
