I’ll be curious to see what happens in the 2020 election. Right now, we’re seeing national polls showing Trump going down to defeat to virtually all the major Democrat contenders, but I believe those polls are pretty meaningless at this point because most people who aren’t politically engaged aren’t that aware of the specific Democrat candidates and their stances on issues and, therefore, are really just registering their discontent with aspects of Trump’s persona or policies and hoping there might be something greener on the other side. But they haven’t actually seen what the other side looks like in 2019–20 yet. I think that unless something changes drastically between now and the general election in the way these Democrats present themselves, as they become more well-known, and once the public has a real comparison to make between Trump and some other specific candidate, if that candidate continues espousing the kinds of crazy views I’ve outlined on issues like immigration, race, gender, etc., I’m predicting a Trump landslide.
