Like so much of this ridiculous clickbait, this article is nothing more than an idiosyncratic first-person experience. It sheds no light on anything. The fact that it has attracted so much attention bespeaks the kind of pathetic environment we live in. A few specific points:

• Its big point appears to be nothing more than the notion that the author came upon old white people from Europe who are — gasp — racist. Why exactly is this interesting? I’m sure you can find some old black people (and many young black people as well) who are pretty racist too. So what?
• The title is “White Privilege on an Average Tuesday.” Now, can anyone explain to me exactly what this article has to do with “white privilege”? Who is privileged here? The doddering 87-yr.-old man recovering from “open-heart surgery, in constant pain and unable to turn his head from extreme neck stiffness”? Right … um … sounds disgustingly privileged to me. In other words, in introducing the concept of “white privilege” here, the author is doing nothing more than indirectly implying that this is just how white people are. That is racism. In fact, as I explain here, the very concept of “white privilege” is anti-white racism, pure and simple.
• The author is a spineless coward. What exactly is the point, under cover of anonymity, of sliming an 87-year-old heart patient? Yeah, okay, he has racist ideas. When we’re 87 years old, we’ll all probably have many ideas that are out of step with the times. Now, ask yourself, when you’re an out-of-touch 87-year-old in daily pain after debilitating heart surgery, are you going to want some holier-than-thou publicity-seeking prick publishing a screed about your outdated beliefs?

Medium is, unfortunately, overrun with garbage like this that doesn’t withstand the most basic intellectual scrutiny. Please stop giving “likes” to these kinds of clickbait stories. They don’t enlighten, they don’t inspire, they don’t educate. All they do is manipulate weak-minded sheep into baahing more loudly alongside their like-minded flock.
