Obviously the larger contest of a gesture matters. Kneeling down to pray, taking a knee during the national anthem and collapsing down to your knees after you’ve been kneed in the chin during a UFC bout all involve knees, but that’s about all they have in common. Kneeling during the national anthem is intended to be and is disrespectful.
