This story and the entire coverage of this unfortunate incident has been completely demented. Every single one of us knows that as between elderly white folks and black teens, statistically speaking, it's overwhelmingly the case that it's black teens who pose a danger to elderly white folks, not the other way around. Black-on-white crime is far more widespread than white-on-black crime by many orders of magnitude. But any given black-on-white crime isn't a high-profile incident because it's an everyday occurrence, and the media is deathly afraid of reporting on it. But when one elderly white man, driven, obviously, by fear induced by his statistically correct understanding of who generally poses a danger to whom, massively overreacts and shoots a perfectly innocent black teen, the media goes nuts. They're going to have us ("us" meaning the many gullible morons out there) believing this sort of thing goes on every day, just like they already have us (same morons) believing cops are out there shooting unarmed black men every day, whereas the reality, again, is that this happens like 10 times per year, whereas cops are shot by black men far more often. So we'll just continue ignoring the gangs of hoods, thugs and predators roaming the streets of our cities and preying on innocent victims and focus instead on one stupid old man who didn't go out looking for anyone to shoot and just made a big mistake on account of his fear.
