Yes, I completely agree with you. The term “racism,” as you say, is being thrown around so broadly and irresponsibly that it has lost all meaning. I was merely pointing out to the person I was responding to that the narrow definition of racism found in dictionaries would result in making a lot of the behaviors she’d probably find racist no longer fit that category. I, of course, don’t believe those kinds of behaviors or outcomes are in any way racist.
