This supposes that the people claiming he was a “sloppy drunk” are telling the truth.

Yes, of course, but a bunch of former classmates are coming out and all saying the same thing. They have less reason to put themselves on the spot and lie than Kavanaugh does. You’d have to think they’re all lying. The overall picture that comes into focus when you look at what they’re all saying, and also consider Mark Judge’s account of the “Bart O’Kavanaugh” character in his book Wasted, are that Brett Kavanaugh drank a lot more than he let on in his testimony.

A sincere question, is blacking out such a common affair in American teenagers? Just consider that blacking-out means that your body shuts down “normal operation to protect the brain from damage. I think this is a bit more than being a “sloppy drunk.”

American teenagers and college kids often drank a lot, though, as I understand it, more in those days than now. I have certainly witnessed lots of excessive drinking, vomiting, passing out, etc. while I was in high school and college. As for blacking out being more than being a sloppy drunk, yes, that’s true, but take these accounts of what some of Kavanaugh’s classmates have said:

“I definitely saw him on multiple occasions stumbling drunk where he could not have rational control over his actions or clear recollection of them,” said Daniel Lavan, who lived in Mr. Kavanaugh’s dorm freshman year. “His depiction of himself is inaccurate.”

Another former classmate, Dr. Elizabeth Swisher, now a gynecologic oncologist in Seattle, said it would be “a lie” to say that he “never had a blackout” from drinking in college. “I saw him very drunk many times and there is no way he remembers everything about every night,” she said.

What I’m saying is that all the evidence points in the same direction: Kavanaugh was a prolific drinker in high school and college, drank frequently to excess, often behaved badly when he drank and probably blacked out on some occasions. Frankly, I personally don’t care about any of this, since it really doesn’t matter to me what this guy did back when he was a teenager.

The point of my article was more about the fact that none of the media sources on either side seems to be able to present all the evidence, both the evidence that strongly suggests Kavanaugh was lying and all the evidence that strongly suggests Ford was lying. It’s always either one or the other. I find that pretty appalling.
