You know, against my better judgment, I took the time to respond to your prior post in detail. I ignored your ad hominems and engaged your actual arguments, hoping to elevate the discussion and to get you to see beyond your simplistic, Manichean worldview in which the world is divided into anti-racist crusaders for good such as yourself and evil racists such as me. I tried to explain to you patiently that what you see as anti-racism is actually making us all MORE racist and making our racial dynamics worse.

Clearly, I overestimated you, because, feeling, in your own words, too “tired” to engage my arguments, which didn’t give you the predictable racist you were hoping to find, you didn’t know what to do and resorted to the lowest level of name-calling:

You are a bad person. You are a supremacist, and a racist.

A supremacist? Even though I’ve repeatedly argued on Medium in favor of total integration of blacks and whites on every level of society? A racist? Even though I’ve repeatedly argued that we ought to stop classifying people by race and start going back to the ideal of looking at everyone as an individual human being? A bad person? Well … I guess I don’t know what to say about that one.

It sounds like you have a LOT of intellectual and emotional maturing to do. And, yeah, I know nuance can be a difficult thing to deal with when you’re used to thinking in crude binaries, and sometimes, nuance can be overwhelming, but when you start to appreciate it, you get to a much higher level of functioning. The world isn’t divided into superheroes and comic book villains, my friend. And sometimes those people like you who think they’re on the side of “good” eventually wake up to realize they’ve been fighting for the wrong side all along. Maybe, in the end, you’ll come to realize that the “bad person” in our back-and-forth wasn’t who you think it was. Good luck.
